Swiss Steak with Vegetables Description

Swiss Steak with Vegetable Ingredients

1 1/2 pounds of round steak, about 3/4″ thick.

2 Tablespoons vegetable oil

1 can condensed onion soup

1/2 cup water

1/4 teaspoon salt

4 carrots, peeled and cut into wheels

4 potatoes, peeled and cut into quarters

2 Tablespoons flour

1 Tablespoon parsley, chopped

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper

Tip: If you add softer vegetables, like peas, summer squash, and corn, add them during the last half hour of cooking.

Directions How to Make Swiss Steak with Vegetables

  1. First, pound meat. Then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a skillet, brown meat in vegetable oil.
  3. Next, add in onion soup, 1/4 cup of water, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cover and cook on low heat for 30 minutes.
  5. Add potatoes and carrots.
  6. Cook another 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  7. Mix flour in 1/4″ cold water. Shake to mix well.
  8. Slowly blend flour and water into the pan, stirring as you add it.
  9. Cook and stir until sauce has thickened.
  10. Sprinkle parsley over the meal.
  11. Serve hot.
