Making your own apple butter is a fun fall project. This homemade apple butter recipe is sure to be a new one for your recipe collection.

Apple Butter Recipe Ingredients

4 quarts of apples

2 quarts water

1 1/2 quarts cider

1 1/2 lbs. sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon allspice

1 teaspoon ground cloves

Directions How to Make Apple Butter

  1. First, wash apples and cut them into small pieces.
  2. In a large pan, cover apples with water and boil until tender.
  3. Then, pass through a sieve or food processor, to remove skin and seeds.
  4. Next, bring the cider to a boil.
  5. Add apple pulp and sugar.
  6. Cook until thickened, stirring very frequently to avoid burning the bottom.
  7. Add spices and cook for 20 minutes.
  8. Fill 3 sterilized quart jars and seal.
