Peas and Onions Recipe Description

Garden sweet peas go good with almost anything. They taste especially great if picked fresh from your garden. Your homegrown peas will taste great in this peas and onions in butter sauce recipe.

Peas and Onions Recipe Ingredients

2 cups a fresh picked peas (or, 2 -10z. packages)

4 medium sized onions, peeled and sliced

3 Tablespoons butter or margarine

1/2 cup chopped onions

1 teaspoon sugar

2 teaspoons sugar

1 Tablespoon brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1 Tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup water

Recipe Directions

  1. Cook peas in boiling water until tender.
  2. In a separate pan, cook sliced onions until tender.
  3. Remove from heat, and drain both.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter.
  5. Add chopped onions, and cook for 5 minutes on low heat.
  6. Stir in the remaining ingredients, and heat thoroughly.
  7. Place peas and onions into a large bowl.
  8. Pour in the sauce, and toss well to mix.
  9. Serve hot.
