Rose Hip Jam Recipe Ingredients

one pound rose hips

1 cup water

1 pound sugar

Directions How to Make Rose Hip Jam

  1. First, harvest one pound of rose hips after the first hard frost.
  2. Next, place rose hips into a pot with one cup of water.
  3. Simmer the rose hips until soft.
  4. Then, strain the mixture through a food mill, to remove seeds and fibers.
  5. Return the liquid to the pot.
  6. Add an equal amount of sugar, by weight.
  7. Cook at a slow boil, until the jam begins to set, about 30 minutes.
  8. Pour jam into sterilized canning jars and seal.
